Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Kodandam (“Kodandam”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects your information when you use kodandam.si (the “Service”). If you have any questions, write to us at info@kodandam.si.

1. Information we collect

When you sign in with Google, Google shares the following with us, with your permission:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your Google profile picture
  • A unique Google account identifier

We do not receive your Google password, contacts, Gmail messages or any other Google data.

When you use Kodandam, we store:

  • The questions you ask and the answers Kodandam gives (your conversation history), so you can return to them later
  • The titles of your conversations
  • A daily count of how many questions you have asked, to apply fair-use limits

Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting server may log your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, for security and to keep the Service running.

2. How we use your information

  • To sign you in and keep you signed in
  • To answer your questions and show your conversation history
  • To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and apply daily usage limits
  • To respond when you contact us

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. AI processing and third-party services

To generate answers, the text of your question, your recent messages in that conversation, and relevant scripture passages are sent to our AI provider. Depending on our configuration this is Google (Gemini API) or Anthropic (Claude API). These providers process the text to produce an answer and handle it under their own terms and privacy policies.

Please note: when we use the free tier of Google’s Gemini API, Google may use the content sent to it to improve its products, and human reviewers may read it. For this reason, please do not share sensitive personal information (such as health details, financial details or identity numbers) in your questions.

We also use:

  • Google Sign-In to verify your identity (Google Privacy Policy)
  • Google Fonts to display text, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers
  • Gravatar as a fallback profile picture if your Google picture cannot be shown
  • Our web hosting provider, which stores the website and its database

Some of these providers may process data outside India.

Image creation. When you ask Kodandam to create an image, your description is sent to Google’s Gemini API to generate it. The image is saved on our server so it appears in your conversation, and it is deleted when you delete that conversation. Anyone who has the direct link to an image file can view it, so please do not include personal information in image requests.

4. Cookies

We use only essential cookies: login cookies that keep you signed in, and a short-lived security cookie used during Google sign-in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

5. How long we keep your information

  • Conversations are kept until you delete them (use the bin icon next to a conversation) or until your account is deleted.
  • Your account information is kept while your account is active.
  • If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account and conversation history within 30 days, except where we must keep information to comply with law.

6. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:

  • Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your conversations at any time, or ask us to delete your account
  • Withdraw your consent by stopping use of the Service and asking us to delete your account
  • Raise a grievance with us, and if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India

To make a request, email info@kodandam.si from the Gmail address you use with Kodandam. We aim to respond within 30 days.

7. Children

Kodandam is intended for users aged 18 and above. If you are under 18, please use Kodandam only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal data without such consent, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Security

We use HTTPS encryption, Google’s secure sign-in, and access controls to protect your information. No online service can be completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will act promptly on any issue.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, show a notice on the Service.

10. Contact and grievances

For privacy questions, requests or grievances, contact us at info@kodandam.si.
